Our first new fragrance in five years takes inspiration from the plays and sonnets of William Shakespeare. The flowers he loved fill his writings. We've blended these floral scents:Iris (Fleur de Lis), Honeysuckle (Woodbine), Carnation (Gillyflower), and Rose with other herbal essences to suggest summers at Stratford-on-Avon. The scent is inspired by Sonnet #5, where Shakespeare tells of foiling winter's destruction of summer's beauty by holding the essence of that beauty in a bottle - "But flowers distilled, though they with winter meet, lose but their show; their substance still lives sweet."
Shakespeare's Flowers is our summer in a bottle. It is an exquisitely feminine floral harking back to the 1700's, when perfumes were simple florals, without the harsh notes encountered in today's new offerings. |
